TAWNY ELLIS RETURNS WITH HER MOST CINEMATIC WORK TO DATE
New Album EDGE OF THE WORLD Out June 20, 2025
LOS ANGELES, CA – Acclaimed singer-songwriter Tawny Ellis is set to release her sixth full-length studio album, EDGE OF THE WORLD, on June 20, 2025. A bold, emotionally charged return after five years, the album marks a period of creative rebirth and personal transformation for Ellis delivering nine richly textured songs shaped by storytelling, sonic experimentation, and a lifetime of artistic pursuit.
Co-produced with her longtime collaborator and husband Gio Loria at their home studio in Silver Lake, CA, EDGE OF THE WORLD weaves together cinematic soundscapes with folk, pop, rock, and country inflections. Ellis’s signature tenor guitar and mountain dulcimer are the foundation, layered with lush arrangements and haunting melodies.
The title track features a breathtaking guest appearance from Daniel Lanois, legendary producer for U2, Bob Dylan, and Emmylou Harris. Lanois contributes piano and pedal steel on the track, imbuing it with a haunting, woodwind-like atmosphere. “It was a dream come true,” Ellis says. “Listening to him talk about music is a master class.”
The album also features performances by an all-star roster, including; Tim Hanseroth (Brandi Carlile), Corey McCormick (Neil Young, Lukas Nelson), Kaveh Rastegar (Sting, Paul McCartney), Kyle Crane (Neko Case, Daniel Lanois), Joshua Ray Gooch, Carey Frank, and more.
From the autobiographical “Sweet Georgia” to the introspective and socially conscious “Elephant” and the darkly comedic “Scrollin,” each track offers a distinct lens on modern life, memory, and meaning. The album’s themes reflect Ellis’s recovery from personal setbacks, including a major injury, and the emotional fallout of the pandemic, where canceled tours and creative stagnation gave way to new beginnings.
The cover art, painted by Ellis herself, was inspired by a video shoot in Big Sur and captures the album’s central spirit: facing life’s cliffs and leaping into the unknown with hope and courage.
Mixed by Adam Loeffler and Gio Loria, and engineered by Loria, the album is a true collaborative labor of love.
EDGE OF THE WORLD will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major streaming platforms on June 20, 2025.

PRESS RELEASE "SWEET GEORGIA"
Sweet Georgia Press release:
Tawny Ellis is known for her evocative songwriting and soulful voice, capturing hearts with music that resonates
deeply on a personal level. With an extensive body of work already released to critical acclaim, she continues to
evolve as an artist, blending her rich musical heritage with new, deeply personal narratives. Her latest single,
"Sweet Georgia," is a powerful and autobiographical track that draws from her roots in Savannah, Georgia.
The song recounts a childhood memory of being left alone under a willow tree for long stretches of time, where
she felt as if she was in the care of the tree itself. This poignant memory is transformed into a triumphant anthem
of self-reliance, psychic abilities, and an unwavering love for nature and the gifts that solitude can bring. For Tawny, embracing and reframing the past instead of dwelling on it as a sad memory is a liberating experience. She believes it's empowering to celebrate where we come from, as it helps shape and inform our identity.
"All of it can be looked at as a gift," she says.
"Sweet Georgia"
Written by Tawny and features talented musicians including Grammy Award-winning Tim Hanseroth on guitar
(Brandi Carlile), Corey McCormick on Bass (Lukas Nelson, Neil Young), drummer Kyle Crane (Rufus Wainwright, Daniel Lanois, Madison Cunningham, Neko Case), and Carey Frank on Keys.
Tawny is honored to have these musicians on the record that is produced by her and her longtime musical partner
Giovanni Loria, who also plays acoustic and electric guitars. This single is the first release from her forthcoming album,
*Edge Of The World*, set to debut in early 2025, marking a significant chapter in Ellis's ever-evolving musical journey.
The album’s title track, "Edge Of The World," will also be released as a single in the coming months. The project draws
inspiration from a drive along the winding roads of Big Sur, California, where she felt on the edge of the world, facing
both danger and beauty. In this life, we all have those moments where we feel on the edge. As she puts it, "Everything
feels amplified on so many levels. As we wake every day, there’s a feeling like everything could fall apart, or, on the other
hand, we can fly, rise, and soar to great heights." The album revolves around themes of navigating this bold, ever-changing
world, where each day feels like a delicate balance between collapse and triumph.

Youtube Premiere Oct 4th 6pm pacific time:
“Sweet Georgia” I wrote when I realized I kept having a memory of being left alone as a baby in my crib under the willow tree in the backyard. My mother used to tell me that she would leave me out there for hours because as a young mother with another toddler at home she would just leave me out there to entertain myself. I found this to be a disturbing memory so I wanted to play with that memory, and make it a good thing about who I became because of it.
It really was like therapy to just write about it first in my journal and then it became a song about it and how grateful I am for all the things that shaped who I am today.
